Dairy Construction: Laying the Pipes

by Maureen Argon 19. March 2010 10:51

This is the view that greeted me when I arrived at the dairy this morning.

I work from my home office and go to the dairy on Fridays to do the “mail merge”, my Friday ritual of sending letters of thanks to those good people who’ve joined the Monforte flock by purchasing a CSA for cheese. Since January, I’ve also enclosed their year’s worth of vouchers.

If you’ve been following this story, you’ll know construction has been delayed. Truth is it’s been quite a ride to get to this point. But that, as they say, is another story. When the dust settles – literally – I’ll nudge Ruth telling the tale.

Last week the floor got jackhammered to smithereens.

This week, the team from Turner Plumbing & Heating Ltd. in Stratford started laying down the pipes. They told me they’d laid down about 200 ft by the time I walked in but when the whole thing is done, it’ll likely be as much as 1,000 ft.

The big bread mixers left behind by the previous tenant have been moved outside.

And all the baker’s racks are in the future retail space.

So now you know why you can’t get any cheese at the dairy yet.
