What to Call our New Water Buffalo Ice Cream?

by Maureen Argon 2. April 2010 05:22

This summer Monforte will be offering a new product: ice cream made from water buffalo milk. We'll have it for scooping into cones at the dairy. It's being made for us by Mapelton's Organics.

Water buffalo tastes suprisingly like cow's milk, only richer and sweeter – perfect for ice cream I think. Ice cream and fresh mozzarella, but that's another story.

The other day while reading through my Twitter feed I tweeted off the top of my head: "we really need a snappy name for our new water buffalo ice cream". I was quite amazed at the response and the very clever names people came up with:

Buffalo Gal's – H2O Buffamilk – Moofalo Creamalicious – Gelato di Buffalo – Buffle Crème –Buffagelato – Can't Get E-Buff – Fresh from the Herd Ice Cream – Fred Flintsone – Grand Poobah – Big Bad Buffalo Blast – In the Buff – Buffalicious – Bæiceæon – Curly Horn Creamery – No Bull – BICEn Cream

We decided to ask the same question to our Facebook Fans. They suggested these names:

Yak Attack – Buffalo Springcream – Divine Bovine – Buffalo Soldier – Gelato di Buffalo – B-ice–on – ICE-A-LO – Buffalick – Miffalo – Buffalati – Icebuff – Buff-a-latto – Flintstone Freeze – Richalo (Rich and low) – Berrrrrfalo – Buff-10– Buffed Ice-A-Lo

Team Monforte considered the names, and had a good chuckle. Here's our top four:

Buffalo Springcream – Buff-a-latto – No Bull  – Buffalo Gal's

We're asking our Twitter and Facebook Fans to pick #1 from among these four. So far Buff-a-latto is galloping ahead.

We'll let you know the winner, and when you can come over for a scoop.

By the way: These photos were takn in June 2008 at Purple Hill Farms in Thorndale.
